EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE - ADULTS WITH MENTAL ILLNESS
Provides support to individuals with mental illness and others through drop-in center operations providing individual counseling, job search, and resume writing. In addition, there is job placement assistance, Internet training, access to on-line job sources, and linkages with local businesses and temporary employment agencies to help participants find work. Transportation assistance is available: from the Van Dorn Metro Station, participants can take an Alexandria Yellow Cab or White Top Cab to and from the Center for free.

Organization Description: The Laurie Mitchell Employment Center (LMEC) was established as a consumer-operated drop-in center in 1995 by a group of people with mental health issues who wanted to support other people in their situation with increased opportunities for socialization and potential employment in the competitive marketplace.
